My parents used to own a small business, and they are wonderful at letting a business know if something can be improved, and praising when things go well. Good businesses appreciate that, especially when it is done in a respectful and polite manner. Complaining about things online and withholding in person is just not cool. I also admire good servers - I could never juggle the things they do and keep it looking effortless. As are most things, it's a two way street. Give respect, and expect it.
