"Mega-era" of VCU? This is a University, not a mall. I'm pretty sure it's here to stay.
What a story. Please continue to profile this kind of positivity that the mainstream media is happy to ignore. We need more people to be inspired to take action in their communities.
You identified with the history of the Civil War, rather than lived through it. (Duh! moment)
Oh and by the way, you're not a minority. You're not a different ethnicity. You're a white guy from the South who lived to see the days of the Civil War. Not a Confederate American. That does not exist.
Of course, I am assuming that since you're arguing the case for "Confederate Americans" that you must consider yourself one. My apologies if I am wrong.
Ok, so you think "Confederate American" is a legitimate ethnicity akin to Jewish or Black or Chinese ethnicities? I have to call it quits on this debate because you just threw logic out the window. Seriously?!
For the record: Confederate Americans do not exist because a Confederacy does not exist. We are all Americans now. Might as well embrace that. But while we're at it, could you BRIEFLY sum up for me the purpose of identifying as a "Confederate American"? I'm interested in how you can dance around the subject of slavery and white elitism? Oh, and the fact that zero minorities self-identify as Confederate-Americans. Again, ALL of the Confederate movements (supremacists or not) are inherently hateful and exclusive of others whether you choose to acknowledge or not. I'm not saying your neighborhood Confederate group likes to get together and plot to commit crimes against minorities, but really evaluate the purpose of the movement itself. An certainly if people want to reenact a war that they clearly lost, that's fine too. But why does that mean that you identify yourself differently from the rest of the country? That's how I feel anyway.
Re: “Carytown Fresh Market Says No to Food Stamps”
Such nastiness above... You deserve all the bad karma that is definitely coming to you. I shudder to think about the kind of kids you might be raising...
The bottom line is that there are plenty of choices for people with government benefits to purchase their groceries. Fresh Market doesn't have to be one, and really it shouldn't be an option considering their prices and target market. If they choose not to accept government benefits that's their prerogative. While my hard-earned money may be accepted at the Fresh Market, they probably won't get much of it for $20/lb products. That is the choice I make, and it's likely that people receiving govt benefits have the need to be even more frugal than I.
