Re: “Mystery Mayoral Candidate Emerges”
I have only lived in Richmond for seven years. I moved here from Charleston SC. I was hoping to find the same level of energy and vision that brought that wonderful city fully into the 21st Century. Instead I found and continue to experience a potentially shining star of a city cloaked in the embrace of the ills, lack of commitment and prejudices of the past.
I live and work in the heart of Richmond's canal district. I still want to be passionate about its future. Instead I see lack of interest by city government including the basics of simply maintaining what we have. Really simple example: "they" are now not even replacing the cobblestones in repairing the potholes along Shockoe Slip's E. Cary St. The City is now filling them in with asphalt.
We need vibrant visionaries with sound business accumen like Mike Ryan who have the courage and commitment to lead us forward. Will it happen...probably not. The latest news is that our City's Registrars Office is busy "invalidating" as many of Mike's signatures as they can. So much for equality of representation.
