Few people who are racists or homophobes will admit to being so; they actually believe they are not. I grew up with people who said that they were not racists, but that "colored" people were just made by God to be inferior.
Now we have a whole group of people who believe that God did not make gays, that it was their "decision" to be gay. That is just as uninformed and prejudicial as saying "colored people are inferior."
The case in discussion is obviously about prejudice, not anything else.
As a straight white man, who has worked (as a musician) with many gay (and black) musicians for over 50 years, I have seen discrimination. This is discrimination.
Re: “Firehouse Smolders”
This fact remains: there are many in the Richmond theatrical community that will not work with the current Board, will not perform at the FTP, will not contribute to the FTP, and will not attend performances there.
I am one of them.
