Re: “The South African Food and Wine Festival

And speaking of South Africa, after you enjoy the Food and Wine Festival, plan to visit VMFA to see Esther Mahlangu, a South African Ndebele who has been commissioned to paint two massive murals flanking the African Galleries. Ndebele women have a tradition of painting their houses in bold geometric patterns. Esther is working seven days a week and the public is welcome to observe. Re: “An Indelible Mark

This speaks to the many artists who live or who have passed through Richmond and VMFA. Each work of art is certainly an expression of an artist, but there so much more to artistic expression and existence than those objects.

At VMFA we recognize the value of reactions and conversations which are inspired by powerful works of art and in graceful architecture. The distillation of focus in a museum inspires heightened attention and enriching experiences. Thanks for this thoughtful article!

Re: “The HR Department

Yes, I know that's a famous DaDa work by Marcel Duchamp. I'm the anonymous bagpipe player for the opening. I just need to tighten the bellows first.
