And "Negro" was just a way people referred to people of African descent. I don't see a "The Negros" team in the NFL. Modern journalism's obsession with presenting both sides of a case leads to this kind of false equivalency horse shit constantly. "I have to report what people say in the news, but I can't be assed to provide context."
What historians have you talked to? Do they have names, or did you just hit up Racist Wikipedia?

I like this article, institutional racism is still a thing, and pretending we live in post-racial era and that racism isn't still an issue in the Capital of the Confederacy (see: redlining, Jackson Ward, Gilpin Court, and Monument Avenue for just a few examples) is about as useful for dealing with problems in this city as giggling over poor people at fancy parties.
