A fine story.
The only question is whether Mike Berry was padding the figures on maintenance.
If he correctly stated that nearly $500 million must be invested in the highway to essentially rebuild the bridges and roadways, then the road is valueless.
If that was a sales pitch, then City Council should reject this gift horse.

Re: “The Mayor's Money”
Both you and the T-D made the same mistake, conflating the RMA windfall and the capital budget on the proposed improvements to the Landmark Theater, the proposed transformation of Main Street Station, the Farmer's Market and the riverfront terraces.
Or maybe the mayor helped. But the above items are listed in the 2013-17 capital budget as being financed by general obligation bonds, not from cash.
The Boulevard stadium and the beginnings of a redo of public housing appear to be the only items proposed to be redone with the windfall. Most of windfall is proposed to be put into a city savings fund of one kind or another.
