I, ALAN SADER, do resolve to not support the Firehouse Theatre Project in any way until the founding artistic director, Carol Androski Piersol, is reinstated as artistic director, pending the dissolution of the current Board. I will not create work, nor be in the audience, nor donate to, nor be in support of this space until this happens. If you are an artist (supporter, ticket-buyer, donor, student, technician) please join with us in posting this.
Not mentioned in the comments above is Irene Ziegler, whose "Rules of the Lake" and "Ashes To Water" are both superb. The first is a connected collection of short stories which reads like a novel. The second "Ashes to Water" is a tight well crafted and suspenseful mystery. You may also know her as a fine actress or an equally accomplished playwright.
I would say this is a must see show!
It is important to remember that in journalistic criticism of the theatre, that a "review" is only one person's opinion. It is not fact, it is an opinion which emanates we hope from a point of view and may be informed by nothing more than another person's opinion and may be affected by what the "critic" ate, who she argued with earlier in the day or what time he has to get up tomorrow. It may be wise to rely more on word of mouth than on the opinion of a person whom you do not know and whose likes or dislikes you may not share.
Re: “Burning Down the House”
Having scrolled though all the comments it is abundantly clear to me if not to all readers that the effects of the pledges are abundant and powerful. It is not possible for a theatre
In any community to move forward with such resistance from so Many artists within that community. And in fact, I counted very few anonymous pledgers. Most anonymous or alias comments come from people who SEEM to support the board. This is a powerful and irresistible show of solidarity.
