Come on McDonnell, wine is NOT something you get drunk with. It is something you have at the dinner table to elevate your meal and help with digestion and heart disease. Even your shriveled up, coal briquette of a heart could benefit from wine's medicinal properties.
Cool! European Gastropub! Marrow bones and rabbit pâté, foie gras, venison, all kinds of pork...I bet they have several rustic wines from Southwest France to compliment this style of cuisine. Makes sense to me! Adventurous wine with adventurous food. Probably a lot of German and Alsatian Riesling as well, because nothing goes better with salty and savory! Mineral laden wines to cut through those fatty cuts of meat! Now I am excited! Can't wait to tell all my adventurous food and wine friends about Blue Goat!
Excited for Selba, I hope you carry the natural food concept to your wine list!
Re: “Taste Over Technology”
I find Sample's interior to be refreshing. It is a nice change compared to other eateries in our city. The food was solid and presented in an elegant fashion. I don't know if I would hurry back to eat dinner here though, the exciting wine list that was listed on their website early on is nothing like the generic, grocery store inspired list that is presented now. I hope they can put as much care into their wine program as they do with their food. It is a nice place to grab a beer late in the evening though.
