Re: “Richmond Grocery Aftershocks From the Martin's-Publix Deal

My son lives in Gainesville, FL and shops at Publix. When we visit, I compare prices to our Richmond stores (Martin's and Kroger) and find Publix's to be higher. Also, surprisingly, the produce is definitely higher in price. (a pineapple $2.99 at Martin's, $4.99 at Publix) Somehow I thought the sunshine state would use more local produce but I saw no indication of that.
I agree their bakery and deli is topnotch.

Re: “Vantage Points: The Best Places in Richmond to Watch the Bike Race

Pay $10 to watch the bikes leave from Lewis Ginter? Where is the drama in that? Especially when Kings Dominion is free on the day the racing begins there.

Re: “Game Plan

"So you don't feel like -- I don't want to use the word bungled, but -- do you feel like you could have handled it better?

Absolutely not. In fact, I feel very good about the fact that we have a vision on the table for the city of Richmond. "

Typical. Those who do not learn from their mistakes are destined to repeat them. Or as we used to say about my father, "Often in error but never in doubt."

Re: “Legal Stylings

I wish the missus would get a trim. With her current do, she looks like a Barbie doll.

Re: “REVIEW: Billy Ray Hatley Tribute Concert at the National

My sister-in-law has been diagnosed with this form of dementia. I was interested in the sentence in the article about the causes of this condition. I wonder if the author could elaborate.

Re: “Rearview Mirror

For someone leaving because the political atmosphere is too conservative, I'm wondering how he'll find the tone of Texas, considering a Republican-controlled legislature just signed into law an anti-abortion law second to known.

Re: “For Richmond, the Kids May Not Be All Right, Study Shows

A candidate came to our school to interview for a teaching position. She wore white jeans and a shirt. When asked what she liked to do when she wasn't teaching. she replied, "I like to rest." And this was someone who made it to the interview stage!
Maybe the current crop of job applicants is not hungry enough.
