In 2008 the family's foundation doled out $4.68 million to various arts organizations, the Medical College of Virginia foundation and the Virginia Commonwealth University Engineering School, among others. The company foundation, fueled by profits from the privately owned billion-dollar foam and cushion maker, gave out another $2 million plus in 2008. As spigots go, the Pauleys are rainmakers.
