Senior Economic Advisor to Gov. McDonnell

Former chief executive of Performance Food Group, Bob Sledd was dissed by Democrats in the General Assembly when Gov. Bob McDonnell (No. 6) attempted to install him as secretary of commerce for alleged conflicts of interest — Sledd declined to give up all his corporate board seats. But he's passionate about housing reform and works with the Better Housing Coalition and Homeward, a rarity among corporate chiefs. And McDonnell found a place for him anyhow, appointing Sledd as his senior economic adviser.
