46. Ivor Massey Jr. and the Massey Family

Richmond Philanthropists

Money has a way of preserving things — traditions, reputations, the status quo. So it makes sense that the Masseys remain in the minds of most anyone who follows Richmond’s first families. You see, the Masseys still have a lot of dough — about $100 million following the sale of namesake Massey Energy, actually. And with Harley-Davidson-riding Ivor Jr. and his wife, Maureen, leading the way, they continue to give a lot of it away — about $2.6 million in 2009 alone.
