The Martian-green units at the grocery chain that invaded Ukrop's be damned, the patriarch of Richmond's last retail company that mattered is still a go-to guy around town. His CenterStage performing arts complex finally opened last year, and he has time to burn. Ukrop is a passionate supporter of schools and plans to get more involved in education. While Martin's Food Stores flails to find its footing and our fond Ukrop's memories fade, Jim's clout remains intact.
