St. Paddy's Day Blowout

Where to find music, beer and the Luck of the Irish in Richmond this weekend.

With all the hubbub surrounding Shamrock the Block's move to the Boulevard and businesses in the Bottom filling the void with Shamrock the Bottom, aka Shockoe Fest, it's easy to overlook the big whiskey bottle in the room. Now the entire city is one giant St. Patrick's Day party.

The Main Events: Conflicting celebratory factions means we'll be able to mark the country's long, contentious history with real party life competition. Thankfully, this isn't a battle between Catholics and Protestants. Rather, I like to think of it as a Team Richmond effort to celebrate Irish culture. The 11th annual Shamrock the Block and the new Shockoe Fest kick off Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m., in their respective parts of the city.
