House Republicans name Del. William J. Howell to replace S. Vance Wilkins Jr. as speaker. He promises that from now on, any groping, pinching and leering at the General Assembly will be carried out more equitably.


Richmond Police make out big at a sobriety checkpoint, netting 82 arrests — including DUIs, revoked licenses and drug possession charges. Unfortunately, they could do nothing about the "My Son Is On the Honor Roll" bumper stickers.
