10. Michael D. Fraizer

Genworth Financial President, Chairman and CEO

The president, chief executive and chairman of Genworth Financial, one of Richmond’s biggest companies, has been busy righting the ship after a prolonged economic downturn. But he’s invested in the city. Fraizer and his wife, Elizabeth, own the Richmond Raiders indoor football team, and actively use the team to reach inner-city kids and keep a much-needed downtown anchor, the Richmond Coliseum, relevant. He’s also a close ally of Gov. McDonnell (No. 7) whose wife, Maureen, put on a black-and-silver cheerleader’s outfit for a home game this spring. Now that’s power.
