+6 It's the pinnacle weekend of the 400th Jamestown anniversary, which includes President Bush's surprise conducting of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Like his conduct of the presidency, it was filled with awkward, herky-jerky movements.
T +4 housands of local college students celebrate graduation, including those at University of Richmond, Virginia State University, and J. Sargeant Reynolds and John Tyler community colleges. Pomp was up this year, while circumstances remained steady.
-2 Capital One announces that it's cutting 260 jobs from its credit-card operations in the Richmond area. "Capital One: What's in your rA©sumA©?"
-1 The pepper spray comes out at Highland Springs High School, where a bunch of fights get so bad that nine students are arrested. Most students were unfazed, saying they see much better fights on "Laguna Beach."
0 In a bizarre twist, City Council gets back at Mayor Wilder by reviving his original City of the Future Plan to build 15 new schools. A furious Wilder explodes from internal combustion. "What took you so long?" sputters Paul Goldman, who shows up in council chambers wearing a trench coat, with a cigarette dangling from his lips.
