The state's technology secretary announces that Virginia will get a new operating system for managing its information-technology needs. This will coincide with a state holiday for excited IT workers to drink punch, defrag their hard drives and get re-acquainted with each other's D&D characters.


Listeners of Q-94's morning drive-time show continue to wonder where popular longtime host, nice-guy Jeff Wicker went. Clear Channel is mum; Billy Surf is named as replacement. Station's new motto: "More Music, Cheaper Hosts!"


The State Fair of Virginia opens. To rain, of course. Immediately, Gov. Mark Warner issues an executive order to keep the State Fair running all year.
