Posted on Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 4:00 AM

+6 It's the Spiders vs. the Grizzlies, with the University of Richmond football team earning a spot in the Football Championship Subdivision national championship against the University of Montana on Friday, Dec. 19. Yes, there are playoffs in college football, even if only 100 or so people watch the game on ESPN 15.

+5 At Dirtwoman's 13th Annual Hamaganza, which raises money for the Central Virginia Food Bank, former mayoral candidates Robert Grey and Bill Pantele join Delegate Manoli Loupassi onstage to sing “Twist and Shout.” For the love of all that's holy will someone please tell them the mayoral forums are over?

-1 Dish Network kicks WRIC TV-8 off its satellite system, the T-D reports, because of a dispute over how the companies should split up the fees. Gene Cox of NBC12 demands to know “when the hell another TV station started broadcasting here.”

-1 Blackwell Elementary School is evacuated because of a strong gas odor, but it turns out not to be anything serious. The janitor officially apologizes.

+3 Attorney General Bob McDonnell urges the U.S. Supreme Court to help bring back a Virginia law against e-mail spammers. He's expected to face serious opposition from M.r Clyde Fortinbras of Nigeria, whom urgently requestts your IMMEDIATE AID in the transposition of a sum of money that he has secrued from NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT to the sum of US$100000000.
