Gov. Mark Warner cuts the ribbon for the Pocahontas Parkway, opening the $324 million road that links I-295 with the Chippenham Parkway. Richmonders are thrilled they will have a new place to exhibit bad driving.

Sports radio station WRNL 910-AM announces that it will hold a "Walk-on Week" during June when anyone will be able to host their own one-hour program for $100. Anyone except Kathleen Willey, please.

Chesterfield County Supervisors approve a 725-home development along the James River, despite concerns from many Midlothian residents about the project's density. They must be worried it would spoil beautiful Midlothian Turnpike.
