Wilder Expected at Richbrau

Posted by on Wed, Nov 5, 2008 at 4:00 AM

Mayor Doug Wilder is expected to arrive soon at Richbrau Brewing Co. in Shockoe Slip to watch election results with a small gathering of city officials.

Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Herring and former City Councilman Reggie Malone are already on tap, nibbling on chicken wings as the first election results began to trickle in.

As for the mayor's race, Herring says it was still too close to call.

"I voted for Bob Grey, but I'm not as optimistic as I wanted to be," Herring says, adding that the grassroots campaigning of candidates Dwight Jones and Bill Pantele seemed to give them a decided edge. No matter what, he says that all the candidates appear to be level-headed, intelligent men.

"There are no kooks in this race," he says, grinning. -- Scott Bass
