Henrico Sheriff Planting McCain Signs?

Posted by on Wed, Nov 5, 2008 at 4:00 AM

Earlier today, Obama campaign workers in Richmond expressed concern about allegations from voters that Henrico County Sheriff Michael L. Wade was putting up McCain signs near majority black voting precincts in the county.

It's not illegal, but local Obama officials are concerned that Wade's alleged sign planting could be construed as an intimidation tactic.

Wade, chairman of the Henrico County Republican Committee, couldn't be immediately reached for comment. The Henrico sheriff's department has 361 sworn officers and employees.

An official with the State Board of Elections said she was forwarding the allegations to the Virginia State Police.
