Melissa Chase, bubbly radio host for Q94’s afternoon program and among the last local pop music radio personalities, has left Clear Channel to join Cox Radio’s The New Mix 103.7.

Back in May, Q94 laid off Chase’s morning co-host, Sid Kelly, as part of broader layoffs at the company. Chase’s popular morning show was canceled and replaced with a syndicated program, and she moved to the 2-7 p.m. time slot.

The program director of The New Mix 103.7 says Chase is joining the station and will begin her own morning show program in the near future, though no exact date was specified. Chase declines to comment, referring questions to the program director.

Officials at Clear Channel couldn’t immediately be reached, and by early afternoon had not returned phone calls seeking comment. The story continues to develop, but Chase will not be heard on Q94’s afternoon broadcast today.
